April 19, 2017 Dwight Foster Public Library 6:30 pm Agenda Welcome and Introductions: Present: Karen Tutin (Johnson) Sally Koehler Mary Pratt Angie Szabo Cassie Rains Leslie La Muro Cynthia Holt Approval of minutes from Dec. meeting Motion to Approve: Sally Koehler Seconded: Mary Pratt Approved: Yes Treasurers Report: Total Restricted Funds: $8,092 Updated amount for ‘Our Poet Lady’: $8,505 Total Unrestricted Funds: $7168.61 Motion to Approve: Mary Pratt Seconded: Cynthia Holt Approved: Yes Old Business: Sculpture on bike trail (donated sculpture): Decide on option 1 or 2 then Park & Rec will get on summer schedule for installation. Option 1: By Waste-Water Treatment Plant (Those in favor 0) Option 2: Behind Lyons Quick-Mart intersection (Those in favor 7) Our Poet Lady fundraising update: Current $ raised: $8,505 Goal: $10,500 plus additional marketing costs FA Community Foundation grant applied for- have not heard back yet -Have stated that they would, if approved, likely fill the gap between what was raised and what is needed as opposed to a set dollar amount People have been very supportive and very giving, 75+ donors Batterman Grant Update for Market Square improvements: Update on city Creative Placemaking committee: -Batterman Grant: It is in the second phase, final phase will be decided in June. -City Market Square Decision: Cannot do anything to change parking spaces but is open to: -signage -hardscape -pocket park -theatre building -greenery -way-finding -asethics Mural on Barrie Park Bathroom space -Still contemplating different options -Need to move forward or the city will take the space -Design from HS kids this June -Build during the concerts in the summer -Leslie will measure, talk to the city, and talk to Megan -Sally will create a design sheet to give out to kids Committee Reports: Jessica Holt Scholarship: $1000 Date for committee to review applications: Meet 11th-14th (will create a doodle-Cynthia) Cynthia Leslie Angie (non-voting) Pat Who presents scholarship check to recipient? Senior Awards Night: April 24th Cynthia will present at awards night Schomer Lechner: If we frame the ladies they can be at Hospital: Angie Motioned to cover the cost of framing these pieces so they can be hung Sally Koehler seconded the motion Passed Ask Merrilee Lee about large cow canvas at Museum (Angie contacted her and will follow-up) Website update: Cassie Rains -About page, featured artists with links to websites, navigation, contact (to gmail), meeting schedule (can we a link to the minutes), history, -Add ‘projects’ with current and past -schomer lichnter -poetry wall -river project (sally’s library project) -Lorine Neidecker installations at schools -Kids Art Tent at Farmers Market -Welding Rodeo -Our Poet Lady -Sculpture on bike trail -Gallery Walks -Scholarships -Art Shows -Add Schomer Lichnter Gallery and Bio -Add photo album -Add facebook feed -Add Bylaws -Will pay John Landowski to regain control over our domain Membership: pay dues -Will resend requests for renewal once new website is up -Membership Drive (electronic) -brochure plus link to website -Mail membership drive to those who donated to Sally’s project -Membership will be yearly starting in May each year. Kids Art Tent: Any volunteers to head this up: -Sam Anhalt will lead the logistical leader -he will organize the non-arts saturday -Lisa Hardy may be interested in volunteering -Dana Robinson will be there every Arts Saturday (last Saturday of the month) to run the tent New Business: Farmers Market Art Project funding: · Arts Saturday Kids Tent: $600 or (6 @ $100) -Funding (Fort Community Credit Union) for art supplies or stipends -NASCO Gift Cards ($337) · Clay Tile Project: $10,000 or various sponsor levels -To be locally designed and crafted and installed in the old Theatre Building -If enough raised towards this project, we will sell tiles to raise monies for the ‘double up’ program -Group of local artists working together to create the mural -To commemorate the 15th anniversary of the market · Community Puppet Project: $2400 or (3 @ $800) -Goal to make large parade puppets -Use during a Harvest Event to be used in a parade Angie Motioned to donate $1000 to the Clay Tile Project contingent upon full amount fundraising Sally Koehler Passed New Project Ideas: New Business: -Wisconsin Art Education Association Convention in Fort Oct 27-28th -UW-Whitewater Student Interested in creating a sculpture walk app for Fort Atkinson Next meetings: July 19th, December 20, April 18
