Our Lady Update: Statue is placed, but no plaque or landscaping yet.  Not yet finished. When finished, city will send the bill to the chamber and the community foundation.
Batterman Grant Update for Market Square improvements: We are waiting to hear back about how to send back the extra funds from the Batterman Grant.

Farmers Market Art Project funding: Ask for $500 to cover market music for the summer and an additional ask $250 Winter Market sponsorship.
-Spoke about adding letter in the mailings to ask for help in raising money for various projects (Music series, Barrie Park Mural, Scholarships)
-Spoke about asking for an arts market booth once a month in response to the donation
-Move to sponsor the $500 music series, in exchange for which we will receive a small table space at Arts Market Saturdays to promote the arts council.  We will address the $250 ask for the winters farmer market at our Fall Meeting(Angie)

    -Ad Hoc Committee Presentation is coming up soon
    -Project Lead is working on the Pocket Park and jump starting the Market Square program
        -Utilizing the same design team as the Market Square Plan
    -Have $1000 left to utilize towards next steps

Jessica Holt Scholarship (Cynthia Holt):
    -Scholarship has been updated and is out for students to apply
Schomer Lichtner (Ann Engelman):
    -No update
    -Still have multiple prints and originals
    -Need to find a location to hang prior to hanging any more pieces
-Creating prints to utilize for fundraising.   
-Amy Weh volunteered to spearhead the fundraising project
-Will contact Lori Compas to see if she would photograph the works
-Ann Engleman will work with Amy on printing
Website update (Cassie Rains):
-Live website has not been updated
-New online form to sign up for membership  we need paypal information
-Still need the featured artist information
    -Mary Pratt and Angie Szabo will be guinea pigs for the featured artists section
-Need a decision on how to give special recognition to our business sponsors

Farmers Market Art Project funding (Cynthia Holt):
        -Mosaic project in the tunnel of the farmers market bathroom
-Cynthia Holt suggested using the $1000 we had pledged for the mosaic to go towards the Project Leader Pocket park and then folding the mosaic into the future stages of the Market Square

Mural Committee (Angie Szabo):
-Bathroom Barrie Park-to be led by Angie and Sally with the help of the National Art Honor Society
    -Susie Belzer volunteered to help as did Amy Weh

Activities Committee
    -Need a Committee Chair: Jodi Landowski
        Youth FACT at Luther this spring: Velveteen Rabbit

New Business:
    Pocket Park (Project Lead):
-Project Lead is planning to update the ‘Pocket Park’ behind Brocks with a variety of seating, new landscaping and connect the river walk to the market area and an archway for the riverwalk entrance way, creating some creative pavement to lead people to the walkway
-Mural: initial proposal was to create a mural on Brock’s
Proposal (Leslie)l: Move to fund $1000 from the arts council towards the design team Mara Lee Olson to review the project lead proposal and finalize the design and to ensure that this design will ultimately tie into the Market Square Plan

    Friends of Lorine Neidecker: 2nd Poetry Wall Mural
-We donated $750 as a match to a variety of different organizations to fund a mural on the building on the corner of 106 and Main Street
        -Budget: $5000
        -Painted by Jeremy Pinc, PAinted in June, opening July 28th at 1pm
        -4 additional events to support this project (library, farmers market, lecture at FAC)
-Historic Preservation Committee: anytime we think about a building we need to talk with them.  They cannot endorse painting a mural on any historic building
        -Mural will not go above the the painted portion of the cream city brick
        -’I was a solitary plover’
-Anne moved that the FAAC become the co-partner with the FOLN to create matching funds of not more than $750 to support the second poetry wall on the corner of Sherman Ave and Main Street.

    Hoard Historical Outdoor Art Show:
-Sarah Weh is calling fine artists to be part of this show August 4th 10am-4pm
-Expanding to 15-20
-Booth Fee: $35

-Registration form will be posted on the museum facebook page and museum webpage
-Original artists are invited back
-Chalkfest-Hoard Museum will coincide with the art show
-Requested that we send the word out to our members
Chamber of Commerce:
    -We are eligible for the ‘Heads and Beds’ funds, we might need to ask for that
    -Discussion of recruiting business members through the chamber (use their list)
Kids Art Tent:
    -Asking for a someone to spearhead this activity (either once a month, or every weekend)

Act One Mini-Grant:
    -Carl Fox was interested in potentially applying for a student project through UWW
Funding:
    -Carl Fox was curious about what types of projects we’re looking for funding for
    -We spoke about the Market Square Project and the funding we would need for that
Steam Movement:
    -Christine Heussner was curious if we would be interested in supporting this movement
    -STEM to STEAM

Upcoming Shows/Events:
    Nick Cave: Chicago Artist visiting UWW (Sound Suits) Feb 5th-15th
        -Nick Cave will be there on the 15th with a free lecture that night

-Received: Lions club, Batterman Grant (restricted), private donation in honor of the Nord family,
-Expenses: membership to artists WI, paid Sally Koehler for her sculpture

Old Business:
Donated Sculpture (Welding Rodeo) and Our Lady Update (Sally Koehler):  
  • Will be placed in the Lyons Park sculpture garden
  • Working with Merrilee at Hoard Museum, Friends of Lorine Neidecker to create historical and educational plaque to place with ‘Our Lady’
  • Parks is waiting for equipment
  • Should be starting in November and will be up in December
  • Lighting will be placed within the year
  • Will plan a dedication likely in the spring

Batterman Grant Update for Market Square improvements (Lori Compas, Cynthia Holt, Angie Szabo, Leslie LaMuro):
  • Batterman Grant Received - Request increased to $10,000. Official approval of grant to be confirmed by November by Batterman Foundation Officer.
  • RFP Process completed. Madison design team chosen - Lauren Brown/ Mara Lee Olson
  • Sub-Committee Pre Meeting Oct 26
  • Open Community Design Meeting - All Welcome Nov 15
  • Final Designs estimated to be submitted end of FY 2017
  • Suggestion: The Theater Bathroom Tile Project & potential JM Carpets Mural projects be incorporated into this process, even if later on segmented off as a phase or sub-project.
  • Discussion
    • Marque on Theatre building, when the rehab started they plan they were going to put up a marquee in front to make it look like an old theatre marquee.  Barb questioned if this might come back in?  Rudy might be aware of this.

Mural on Barrie Park Bathroom space (Cassie Rains, Leslie LaMuro, Sally Koehler): Sally Koehler went and got dimensions for the space. Beyond that things have not progressed.
    -Initially wanted to do a mosaic, Pete Weston did not think it would be a good space for it
    -Then went into painted mural idea, Sally created a visual plan of the space
    -Contemplated making it a design contest for the space
    -Would like to do something community based prior to the band concert
    -Possibly do a residency
    -

Committee Reports:
Jessica Holt Scholarship (Cynthia Holt): Updated application will be ready for seniors in December. Goal is still $1000. Cynthia will be trying to raise these funds from family/friends. Would FAC consider also supporting a portion?  
    -We have done it in the past, so we felt comfortable
    -Sally Moved to designate $250 towards the JHS fund.  Anything in excess of the $1000 scholarship would be retained for future years in restricted funds.  Seconded by Kirsten.  Passed

Schomer Lichtner (Ann Engelman):
    -Originally 20-25 pieces
    -Many pieces framed and up at the Library and the FAC
    -7-8 Prints left that we could sell
    -Large posters and framed pieces need to be hung yet
    -The Hoard Museum has taken two framed and signed digital prints
    -Three Large Scale prints of red and white cows which could be sold.  We would like to hold an event at the museum to do a silent auction with minimum bid.  50/50 split in profits.  However, we need to have someone to take the lead in these sales.  
    -Hospital housing prints has not gone forward as it became too complicated
    -Moving along slowly but surely
    -Grace Chosey is a good contact for this set
    
Website update (Cassie Rains):
-Need featured artists info, as well as any other sections you’d like added.
-Cassie will designate the information she would like for the featured artist page and then we will send it out to our members
-All other information is up and running well.
-Will work on a link to become a membership through the website

Membership (?):
-Need to run a membership drive and mailing (as well as emailing)
-Asked for a volunteer: Christine volunteered.  YAY CHRISTINE!  
-Need to add a corporate membership to our categories
    -corporate sponsorship on the webpage and signage to hang in window
    -return on investment everytime an art event happen in this town
    -tabled for membership committee to decide
-suggestions for $25-100, and need to do research to see what is possible/reasonable (chamber)

Farmers Market Art Project funding (Cynthia Holt):
-(Tile Project) This project has been put on hold to align with the overall Market Square Design process.
- Puppet Project (Sally)-it is done, Lisa Kotz donated time to sew the garment.  Puppet parade is on for 10am at Pocket Park this Saturday. One large puppet of mother earth, smaller puppets for others

New Business:
Mural Committee (Angie)
  1. Was approached by Janet Nagus and Connie Barbian about creating a mural on the river facing side of the Water Dept. building. (They would be willing to head up fundraising), Jerry Morren is open to having murals on both the Milwaukee Avenue side of the building and on the Farmers Market side. The wall facing Verlo building on Sherman is also available for murals.
  2. We need artists designs and budget and perhaps a community art project to paint them.
  3. Teaming with the Beautification Council to move forward with the project.  Angie, Cynthia Ficinec and Cynthia Holt will chair this sub-committee
  4. Others interested? No
    1. Need to find a member from the City and the Chamber
    2. Rudy and Scott
  5. Comments:
    1. Check out the Mural Arts of Dane County
    2. Painting on bricks may not be the best, it flakes and the lifetime is not long
    3. Mounted panels may work better long term, pierced iron
    4. Need to think outside the box in materials and substrate
    5. Well-Dog event (one weekend mural bombing)

Current $ raised: $8,505
Goal: $10,500 plus additional marketing costs
FA Community Foundation grant applied for- have not heard back yet
-Have stated that they would, if approved, likely fill the gap between what was raised and what is needed as opposed to a set dollar amount
People have been very supportive and very giving, 75+ donors


Batterman Grant Update for Market Square improvements:

-Batterman Grant: It is in the second phase, final phase will be decided in June.
-City Market Square Decision: Cannot do anything to change parking spaces but is open to:
    -signage        -hardscape
    -pocket park        -theatre building

Farmers Market Art Project funding:
·      Arts Saturday Kids Tent: $600 or (6 @ $100)
    -Funding (Fort Community Credit Union) for art supplies or stipends
    -NASCO Gift Cards ($337)
·      Clay Tile Project: $10,000 or various sponsor levels
    -To be locally designed and crafted and installed in the old Theatre Building
-If enough raised towards this project, we will sell tiles to raise monies for the ‘double up’ program
-Group of local artists working together to create the mural
-To commemorate the 15th anniversary of the market
·      Community Puppet Project: $2400 or (3 @ $800)
    -Goal to make large parade puppets
    -Use during a Harvest Event to be used in a parade
