Artist Bio:
I am both an artist and an art educator. My passion for the arts began in the quiet moments of childhood and has followed me into adulthood through a career and personal life defined by the visual arts. I am an artist, a high school art teacher, the wife of a talented Native American Artist, mother to three talented young artists, a member of the Black Hawk Artists, and an Executive Board Member of the Fort Arts Council.
My artwork is quite feminine in nature and centers around a deep appreciation of our natural world and our connection to it. I enjoy working in a vast array of media from traditional drawing media, to painting, ceramics, photography and metal-smithing. My two dimensional work often portrays an intersection of humanity and nature. My focus in recent years is metal-smithing. I have deep love of silversmithing, forging in particular. Recently, I have expanded into using a variety of metals, techniques and materials to create jewelry with interesting textures, forms and finishes that reflect my love and appreciation of our natural environment. Making art centers me and leaves me feeling refreshed and rejuvenated, like a prolonged meditation. For that reason, my art is reflective, calm, quiet and peaceful.
